Court releases sealed charges

HILLSVILLE — Carroll County Circuit Court officials recently released these unsealed indictments.
Courts often seal charges by direct indictment until the person named can be served with warrants. An indictment is a formal charge, not a finding of guilt.
Those named in the unsealed indictments include:
• Joseph Linwood Burton, possession of methamphetamine, a schedule II drug.
• Stanley Davis Brewer, 12 counts of obtaining drugs by false pretenses
• Desiree Jordan Oakley, distribution of hydrocodone, a schedule III drug
