Galax High School’ class of 1962 raised money to donate a 12-foot ceiling projector screen and a 55-inch HDTV monitor to their alma mater.
Martha Ward, chair of fundraising and contributions, spoke at a recent Galax School Board meeting about the contribution.
“The class of 1962 values our education at GHS and we continue to be impressed by the capacity of GHS to produce graduates who invest in further education and have  become solid family members, dynamic community leaders and valuable citizens of the United States,” said Ward, of High Point, N.C. “It is amazing how far one can go with a great school and a little community support. We thank you, Galax High School.”

The class of 1962 presented the 50th reunion loyalty gift of $3,184.50 to GHS.
Ward noted that graduates of the class of 1962 have gone on to become magazine editors, instructors, social workers, nurses, military members, engineers, company presidents, farmers, artists, musicians, police officers, pilots, pastors, ministers, lawyers, businessmen, accountants and parents.
“We are a very impressive group,” said Ward. “We know it is through alumni giving that stories like ours continue to be created. We know we are investing in our nation’s future by contributing to GHS. The class of 1962 challenges all former and future classes of GHS to create a tradition of giving back. Yes, it does take a village, and more so now than ever before.”
