Church drowning in water bill debt

HILLSVILLE — Hillsville Pentecostal Holiness Church could hold car washes to raise money for its financial crisis, as many churches do, but using all that water would just add to its troubles.
A leak at the church caused an estimated one million gallons of water to run through the system, and into the town’s sewer system.
Hillsville Town Council on Aug. 13 discussed the church’s dilemma, but the amount of the water and sewer bill the town can forgive is just a drop in the bucket.
