Brad Chambers of Galax is among a group of 14 golfers chosen to represent Virginia in the 28th Virginia-West Virginia team matches scheduled for The Greenbrier Sporting Club’s Snead Course on April 16-17.

Chambers, the reigning VSGA public links champion, will join Tim Kelley of Ashland, Ben Keefer of Glen Allen, Roger Newsom of Virginia Beach, Allen Barber of Yorktown, Mike Kirby of Falls Church, Lee Fisher of Altavista and Jake Mondy of Blacksburg. Monday is the VSGA junior stroke play champion and is the youngest member of the team at 18.

The team also includes Martinsville’s Keith Decker and Haymarket’s Scott Shingler, the two top point earners from last season’s VSGA player rankings. VSGA president Richard Wright will serve as the team captain.

The matches consist of foursome and four-ball matches on April 16, prior to final round singles matches on April 17. In the format, three points are available per match, with a point awarded on the outward nine holes, the inward nine and the overall match.

Virginia has claimed 15 of the past 17 team championships in the series, including a convincing 19-point margin of victory last year.
