HILLSVILLE -- Carroll County’s first team offense scored on every possession and the Cavaliers remained undefeated in the Southwest District with a convincing 42-14 Southwest District victory Friday over Grundy at Tommy Thompson Field. It took Carroll County (6-2 overall, 4-0 SWD) just 23 plays to score five touchdowns on its first five possessions. Five different Cavaliers scored touchdowns, including Ulisis Moreno, who had a pair of TD runs in the second half and who was perfect on six PAT opportunities. Carroll County had at least one big play on every scoring drive, three of which started in Grundy territory. Zack Surratt opened the scoring for Carroll County with a 46-yard run late in the first quarter, but Grundy knotted the game at 7-7 on Tyler Berglowe’s 15-yard run midway through the second period. Carroll County closed the half with two touchdowns in the final 3:54 to begin pulling away. Quarterback Blake Bowman scored on a 12-yard run at the 3:54 mark of the period, and connected with wideout Tyler Reavis on a 38-yard scoring toss with 1:01 left in the half.
