TAZEWELL –– Carroll County got off to a hot start but had to hold off a late Tazewell comeback attempt before pulling away for an 83-64 win in a Southwest District boys’ game Tuesday.
The Cavaliers remained unbeaten on the year at 12-0 and improved to 2-0 in SWD play.
Carroll knocked down five 3-pointers in the game’s first six minutes and crafted a 37-20 lead by halftime. Tazewell (6-7, 0-1) battled back and trailed just 48-42 late in the third quarter before the Cavaliers regained the momentum with a 14-0 run.
