Carroll grand jury returns 151 indictments

HILLSVILLE — A Carroll County grand jury issued 151 indictments at it's Monday session. Of those, 41 were sealed until those named within can be served with court papers.

An indictment is only a formal charge, not a finding of guilt.

Those indicted include:

• Edward Allen Alley — credit card fraud (four counts) and bad check (three counts)

• Roxanne Garr Boyd, forgery

• Wayne William Brown — conspiracy to commit abduction for conspiring to abduct Hector Jose Carranza II “with the intent to extort money or pecuniary.”

• Charles Terry Caudill — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; abuse and neglect of a child; receiving stolen firearms (two counts); possession of a firearm while possessing marijuana; possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony; possession of marijuana on public property or property within 1,000 feet of a school.

• Michael Paul Caviness — larceny of a firearm from Mike Surratt; statutory burglary

• Thomas Howard Coleman III — statutory burglary at Gallimore Sawmill; grand larceny of property belonging to Verlin Gallimore

• Gregory Harris Combs — possession of a schedule II drug, methamphetamine, a schedule II drug with the intent to distribute; possession of meth upon public property or property within 1,000 feet of a school

• James Carl Combs — failing to register as a sex offender or providing false information to such registry

• Constantino Dumangane Daniels — possession of cocaine, a schedule II drug

• Glen Ray Davis Jr., unauthorized use of an automobile, a 1988 Ford Bronco II belonging to Garland L. Dalton.

• Thomas Nelson Durnil — possession of meth (two counts), assault and battery on Police Officer Rocky W. Dalton and Officer David A. Walls (two counts)

• Ginger Annette Eads — larceny of a firearm belonging to Mike Surratt; conspiracy to commit statutory burglary at the home of James Surratt

• Sandie Nicole Estep — possession of meth; abuse and neglect of a child “by willful act of omission in the care of such child [through] behavior that was so gross, wanton and culpable as to show a reckless disregard for human life.”

• Joseph A. Finley — grand larceny (two counts) of a 2002 Dodge pickup belonging to American Electric Power and other property; statutory burglary at AEP’s building

• James Edward Fortner — assault and battery on Police Officer D.D. Alley

• Brandy Nichole Frost — possession of meth

• Kevin Nathan Guynn — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony

• Robert Lee Gwyn Jr. — possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; possession of a firearm after being convicted of a violent felony

• Timothy Odell Hall — driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages

• Robby Lynn Hawkins — grand larceny (two counts) of property belonging to David Epperly and Matthew Mottsinger; conspiracy to commit forgery (two counts); conspiracy to commit uttering; petit larceny third offense (two counts) belonging to Donna Burnette and Randy Stiltner

• Marie Goadalope Ibarra — shoplifting, third offense

• Marcus Julio — hit and run

• Martha M. Lastinger — bad check

• Clanton Lee McGrady — forgery of a public document, a Virginia Uniform Summons; attempting to obtain drugs by false pretenses from CVS

• Joseph Buford-Lee Mabe — statutory burglary at the home of Nancy Hull

• John Michael Mason — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a violent felony

• Rogelio S. Morales — unauthorized use of a 2005 Arctic Cat ATV belonging to Anthony Wayne Montgomery

• Jose Louise Nieto — driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages (two counts); possession of meth; possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute

• Maggie Elizabeth Phillips — forgery (three counts), grand larceny (two counts) from David Epperly and Matthew Mottsinger

• Gregory Scott Poovey — abduction of Hector Jose Carranza, March 27

• Jeffrey William Quesenberry — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony

• Arlis Derick Richardson — malicious wounding of Matthew Hamilton Johnson

• James W. Richardson — statutory burglary at a basement belonging to Michael Nester; grand larceny

• Angie Peak Robinson — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony

• James Alan Rogers — identity theft. According to the indictment, Rogers “did unlawfully and feloniously use identification documents or identifying information of another person or fictitious person to avoid summons, arrest, prosecution or to impede a criminal investigation...”

• Chad Delano Rose — eluding a law enforcement officer; assault and batter on Deputy C.E. Edwards; destruction of property belonging to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office with damage in excess of $1,000; grand larceny of a 1996 Jeep belonging to Paul David Lambert

• Amanda Sue Rotenizer — conspiracy to commit statutory burglary at the home of Mike Surratt

• Petrana Yelibeth Santos-Estrada — cruelty and injury to a child (two counts)

• Michael Samuel Sawyers — possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute

• Troy Allan Schofield — possession of meth with intent to distribute

• Joshua Allen Shelton — eluding a law enforcement officer

• Chase Daniel Shinault — possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute; possession of cocaine

• David Lee Simpson — embezzlement from Lewis Delp

• Jesse Robert Simpson — bad check

• Grant Edward Slaughter — possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony

• Tyler Jay Smith — larceny of a firearm, a .410 shotgun, belonging to Mike Jones

• Brenda S. Steele — shoplifting third offense

• Brandon Cory Thomas — making a material false statement on the consent form required of a firearms purchase

• Bobby Dwayne Thompson Jr. — distribution of meth; distribution of a schedule II drug upon public property or property within 1,000 feet of property open to public or private schools

• Shawn Hamilton Toth — grand larceny (two counts) from Bob Johnson and Suzy Poindexter; statutory burglary at the home of Bob Johnson

• Julie Ann Turner — conspiracy to commit abduction of Hector Jose Carranza II.

• Michael Adam Weir — possession of meth; abduction of Hector Jose Carranza II with intent to extort money

• Melissa Whiteted — obtaining money by false pretenses from Grayson National Bank (two counts); forgery (four counts); uttering (two counts)

• Davida Lashay Willis — cruelty to animals, “specifically a dog what was a companion animal, which resulted in the euthanasia of said animal on the recommendation of a licensed veterinarian”

• Keith Douglas Wright Jr. — forgery of a public document, a Virginia Uniform Summons.

• Sandra Prewitt Wright — abuse and neglect of a child.
