HILLSVILLE — The Carroll County grand jury at Monday’s session issued several indictments against a 43-year-old Wytheville man for abduction and other charges.
The commonwealth’s case against Edgar Melvin Pauley Jr. for the alleged abduction of Misty Dawn Gibson will go to trial in the Carroll County Circuit Court.
Pauley was indicted for the abduction of Gibson “by force, intimidation or deception, and without legal justification or excuse, and … “did seize, take, transport, detain or secrete… with the intent to deprive her of her personal liberty,” according to the indictment.
The grand jury also indicted Pauley for burglary of Gibson’s home “while armed with a deadly weapon.”
The grand jury also upheld charges against Pauley for rape, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony.
