HILLSVILLE –– Carroll County jumped out to a 32-point halftime lead and demolished Tazewell 53-0 in Southwest District game Friday at Tommy Thompson Field.
Six different Cavaliers scored at least one touchdown each as Carroll County improved to 2-6 overall, 2-1 in SWD play. Brooks Hash got the Cavaliers going early with a pair of first-quarter scores, running in from 35 yards out a minute into the game and adding a 15-yard run midway through the quarter.
Travis Hunter blocked a punt and Jacob Mollett recovered in the end zone for a 20-0 lead after one quarter.
Connor Lundy tossed two scoring passes in the second period, connecting with Mollett on a 17-yard TD play and then finding tight end Jared Haga for a 36-yard score for a 32-0 lead at the half.
Logan Hodges rumbled in from 21 yards out and Patrick Davis added a 39-yard scoring run late in the third quarter. Kurt Jones capped the scoring with a 25-yard touchdown carry in the fourth quarter.
Carroll County rushed 31 times for 359 yards, led by Hash with 112 yards on six attempts. Cameron Marshall ran seven times for 84 yards and Hodges added 62 yards on just four carries. Lundy was 4-of-6 passing for 80 yards.
Tazewell fell to 0-8, 0-3.
