Carroll County bombs Cougars with 11 treys

 HILLSVILLE –– Carroll County was deadly from long range Friday night and remained undefeated in River Ridge District play with a 65-34 girls’ basketball win over Pulaski County.

The Cavaliers (9-2 overall, 4-0 district) tied a school record by hitting 11 shots from behind the 3-point line, including a combined seven treys by Keely Lundy and Rylee Haynes.

Lundy led three scorers in double figures with 16 points for Carroll County. Haynes chipped in with 13 points and Mattie Kennedy scored 11.

The Cavaliers were never threatened after bolting to a 21-4 first-quarter lead and took a 49-17 lead into the fourth quarter.

Carroll County 57, Pulaski County 50: The Cavaliers found themselves mired in a battle with the Cougars before finishing the game on a 6-0 run to hang on for the River Ridge District win Friday in Dublin.

Carroll County improved to 10-2 overall, 5-0 in league play as Connor Lundy scored a game-high 18 points. Gunnar Beamer added 14 points and Winston Giles finished with 13.

Marcus Burks led Pulaski County (4-6, 2-3) with 14 points.
