Carnival coming to Galax June 23-28

The Galax Volunteer Fire Department’s annual carnival will be held this year from June 23-28 at Felts Park, with rides provided by Michael’s on the Midway.

Gates open at 5 p.m., followed by the bingo and the carnival at 6 p.m. Bingo will have a 50 percent payout for each game. There will be a $1,000 championship game on Saturday night for qualifying players.

Fireworks will be held on June 28 at 11 p.m. and again on July 4 at 10 p.m.

The Great American Duck Race will also be held on July 4 at 10 a.m. in Chestnut Creek. Tickets are $5.

Monday will be Classic Country 98.1 night; buy one $20 wristband and get one free.

Tuesday and Thursday nights offer a $20 wristband, or regular ticket ride prices.

Wednesday offers a buy one wristband, get one free special.

Friday offers lawn mower racing, with adult gate admission at $6 and children’s gate admission at $3.

Saturday offers a Classic Country 98.1 Matinee from noon until 4 p.m. All carnival rides are free with $10 gate admission. On Saturday night there will again be lawn mower racing.

There will be a $300 nightly cash drawing at 11 p.m., with paid adult gate tickets.
