A 29-year-old Cana man has been charged in connection with several daytime break-ins that occurred in the Fancy Gap and Cana sections of Carroll County, according to Sheriff Warren Manning.
Robert Lee Adkins of Dalton Drive was charged with two counts of breaking and entering in the daytime, one count of breaking and entering in the nighttime, three counts of grand larceny and one count of possessing firearms while being a convicted felon, according to a sheriff's department press release on Friday.
Information was gathered by members of the sheriff's office on the break-ins that occurred during July, which developed into leads. Police located property belonging to one of the victims during the investigation, and a key piece of evidence was discovered that resulted in warrants for Adkins being obtained by Investigator Fred Bobbitt and 1st Sgt. Pat Harner.
Manning said the investigations into this and other break-ins will continue and more charges and arrests are expected.
Adkins is being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond, pending a hearing in Carroll County General District Court.
