Britt defends BRCC Invitational title

Shirl Britt came from four shots behind Aug. 12 to win the 46th annual Blue Ridge Country Club Invitational.

Britt, from West End, N.C., the defending champion, shot a 3-under par 67 in Saturday’s round and then shot a 7-under 63 for a 129 total for the easy seven-shot victory.

Second place went to Frank McBayer of Hillsville, who shot rounds of 69 and 67 for a tournament total of 136. Third place went to Brad Chambers of Galax, with rounds of 68 and 69 for a 137.

Brock Cox of Galax shot a 7-under 63 on Saturday but had his troubles on Sunday and finished with a 75 for a 138 total.

There were 120 golfers who teed it up in the tournament.
