DUGSPUR — The eighth confirmed case of rabies in Carroll County belonged to an aggressive bobcat in Dugspur.
The report came in July 25, when a citizen noticed the bobcat menacing a dog.
“Luckily, they got [the dog] inside and got the door shut on it,” recalled Terry Woods, Carroll’s animal control officer.
The animal was collected and sent of to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for testing, according to Scott Honaker of the Mount Rogers Health District.
