INDEPENDENCE — A Board of Zoning Appeals hearing involving The Oracle Institute was brief and confusing for about 20 citizens in attendance last week.
Citizens filed into the Grayson County Courthouse boardroom, many of them holding handwritten or typed notes, thinking they would have an opportunity to speak. However, the Sept. 23 hearing focused on whether the Board of Zoning Appeals has jurisdiction to hear Oracle's appeal of the Board of Supervisors' June denial of the permit.
According to Virginia law, it doesn't.
