INDEPENDENCE –– Eric Harvey scored 12 points, including a late 3-pointer, as Grayson County held off Alleghany, N.C., 55-51 in a nondistrict boys’ game Monday.

The win was the third straight for the Blue Devils (12-6), who travel to Galax for a matchup Saturday between the Mountain Empire District’s top two teams.

Jake Blizzard added 11 points for Grayson County. Julian McNeil led all scorers with 18 points for the Trojans.

The Falcons jumped to a 16-2 lead and rolled to a Southwest District win Friday in Abingdon.

The Cavaliers (2-14 overall, 1-6 district) played evenly with Abingdon in the second half, but trailed 29-11 at halftime.

Tyler Reavis and Isaiah Thompson led Carroll County with 11 points each. Colby Hunt scored a game-high 25 points for the Falcons (8-7, 6-1). Nathaniel Funk scored 12 for Abingdon and Jacob Hess added 10.

Karrington Gambill had four treys and 16 points while Celeste Caudill and Kennedy Gambill added three 3-pointers and 15 points each for Alleghany (9-8).

Devin Osborne led Grayson County (1-17) with 12 points.
