Blue Devils, Maroon Tide take easy district wins

INDEPENDENCE –– Grayson County upped its season record to 11-2 and remained perfect in Mountain Empire District play after taking a 25-12, 25-5, 25-13 win over Graham on Thursday.

The Blue Devils, now 5-0 in the MED, got 23 assists and seven kills from Taylor Cannaday and 13 kills from Camryn McGrady in the easy win. Emily Lindsey fired eight aces for the Blue Devils.

Galax def. Narrows 3-0: Susan Davis had six kills to go with her 15 assists and Carleigh Pack also put up 15 assists as the Maroon Tide swept the Green Wave 25-14, 25-19, 25-14 Thursday in Narrows.

Lindsey Ayers had a team-high eight kills for Galax (10-3, 4-1).

Tiffany Perdue and Tiffany Kast both had six kills for Narrows, which dropped to 7-6 (3-2).

Cave Spring def. Carroll Co. 3-1: The Cavaliers were able to open up a one-set lead on the Knights before Cave Spring rallied for the 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 River Ridge District win Thursday in Hillsville.

Cheyenne Strickland had nine kills and 12 assists for Carroll County (9-7, 2-4). Eustacia Smith served for five aces and had seven kills, and Jessica Sheek also put down seven kills while Gracie Lindsey had 19 digs.

Cave Spring remained undefeated at 7-0, 6-0 in the RRD.
