The Galax Theatre Guild's production of the musical "Beehive" — featuring songs of the 1960s, such as “I’m Sorry,” “Downtown” and “Me and Bobby McGee" — opens Thursday.
The show will feature beehive hairdos, long skirts, free-flowing hair and hippie fashions.
The music shifts dramatically, from early girl groups like the Chiffons, the Shirelles, and the Supremes, to the solo work of Petula Clark, Brenda Lee, Connie Francis, Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, and Aretha Franklin.
Tickets are $8 at www.artsculturalcouncil.org, or from the Galax Visitors Center downtown, or the Arts Council office.
To order by mail, send check to The Arts Council, P.O. Box 492, Galax, Va. 24333. State the show date and number of tickets.
Shows on Sept. 6, 8, 13 and 15 are at 7:30 p.m., and the Sept. 16 show is at 2:30 p.m.
