Bank robbers sentenced

ABINGDON — Two men charged in a bank robbery in Troutdale last June were sentenced in federal court on Jan. 4.

Steven V. Bannister, 18, of Midwest City, Okla. and Nicholas E. Stallard, 36 — also of Midwest City and formerly of Galax — pleaded guilty to one count each of bank robbery Aug. 27, 2007 in U.S. District Court in Abingdon.

Stallard also pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to rob a bank.

Stallard received a sentence of 151 months in jail, while Bannister received 33 months.
