A Galax man has again upped the reward that he will pay for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved with a fire that destroyed the old Stevens Creek school building in October 2012.

After doubling his original reward offer of $5,000 to $10,000 last October, Terry Combs said he is now offering $15,000 for information on the fire, which is being investigated by Virginia State Police as an arson case.
The old building, owned by Combs and being used to manufacture wooden pallets, is located at 205 Pine Ridge Lane near Fries. According to Combs, he had received several orders for pallets, and family members were working at the business to fill the orders.
Combs estimated damage to the building and his equipment at $103,000 and said he had no insurance to cover the loss. Combs said he was having a zoning problem at the time of the fire, and was circulating a petition obtaining signatures so he could keep the business open until the zoning problem could be settled.

Anyone with information concerning the fire can call the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department at 773-3241 or 236-9988, Combs at (276) 233-8444, or the Virginia State Police at 1-800-542-8716.
