By Staff Reports

Two suspects wanted by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department have been arrested in Washington County.
The suspects, Adam Franklin Ashby, 40, of Mockingbird Lane in Galax; and Alma K. Prescott, 29, of Radford; were wanted in connection with the alleged armed robbery at a residence in the Oldtown community near Galax.

According to a sheriff’s department report, Grayson County deputies responded to a call the afternoon of March 8 to 135 Mockingbird Lane, where an armed robbery had occurred.
“The victim reported that the two suspects worked together to rob him of $130 in cash and 120 Percocet pain pills,” Sheriff Richard Vaughan said at the time of the incident.
After an investigation by Investigator Todd Perkins, warrants were obtained for Ashby and Prescott, charging both with armed robbery, possession of schedule II pills (Percocet) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Prescott was also charged with grand larceny.
Ashby and Prescott were arrested April 19 by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and placed in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.
Both appeared for a video arraignment April 23 in Grayson County General District Court for appointment of attorneys.
They are now being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin without bond pending a preliminary trial on May 20 in Grayson County General District Court.
