Ambulance driver charged in crash

HILLSVILLE — A Carroll Fire and Rescue driver received a ticket for failing to yield in a Sunday evening accident on U.S. 221, according to a report by a Hillsville police officer.
The two-vehicle wreck occurred March 17 at about 8:30 p.m. on 221 at the entrance to the fire-rescue station, when ambulance driver Brian Schlabach, 29, attempted to turn onto the road with lights and sirens on while responding to an emergency call, according to a report by Officer Ricky Hayes.
